Reading Athletes who use facilities at Palmer Park Sports Stadium are to reap the benefits of a £137,500 revamp.
The new look Reading sports stadium’s facilities now boast a refreshed and re-lined athletics and cycle track, new netting to the hammer cage, brand new pole vault upright poles, new sand pit covers and a new high jump landing area.
The new and improved athletics features are open to the public to use from this week, following a 10-week refurbishment programme carried out by contractor Polytan Sports Surfaces.
Graeme Hoskin, Lead Councillor for Reading Culture and Sport, said: "Palmer Park stadium provides extremely important facilities for athletes and racing cyclists and it is therefore right that we make this investment. As a council we’re working hard to promote exercise and sport for all and this work is part of that."
Palmer Park Sports Stadium in Wokingham Road, East Reading, offers a 460m velodrome, track and field athletics stadium, floodlit football pitch, covered grandstand, gym, MyRide indoor cycle studio and children’s playground.
