Nutritional therapy isn’t just about helping people to lose weight (though it is commonly used for that). It may also be helpful in addressing a wide range of common, and not so common, health concerns, including:

- Digestive complaints such as constipation, diarrhoea and irritable bowel (IBS).
- Cardiovascular problems, e.g. high blood pressure, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes.
- Allergies and food intolerances.
- Thyroid and other hormonal problems.
- Mental health issues such as depression and anxiety.
- Skin conditions, e.g. eczema and psoriasis.
- Asthma, hay fever, osteoporosis, arthritis
and many more…

Nutritional therapy is a complementary, not alternative, discipline. It is an holistic but science-based approach which involves taking a thorough medical history and then devising a protocol involving simple dietary and lifestyle adjustments. The protocol is negotiated and agreed with the client so that it is achievable, thus helping provide motivation and encouragement.

In certain cases medical tests may be recommended in order to determine the root causes of an ill-health condition and, if necessary, supplements may be
part of the treatment protocol in order to speed healing and promote recovery. However, as above, all of this is negotiable.

Note that we can offer reliable allergy and food intolerance testing, based on hard science and using accredited laboratories (they do involve having a blood sample taken though!).

David Riley was trained at the world-renowned Institute for Optimum Nutrition in London. He is registered with the British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy (BANT) and is also on the register of practitioners held by the Nutritional Therapy Council.
