Helping you cook with multiple food intolerances
About us:
Lorraine Vaughan set up Allergycooks to help people with multiple food intolerance or allergies to cook great food.
We provide recipes and information via our website and discussion forum. All our recipes are totally free from wheat, egg and dairy products and we give guidance on how they can be modified to remove other allergens such as soya, nuts and yeast. Our 2009 Recipe Card Calendars are out now and our first recipe book should be available in time for Christmas.
Our principle is that you should be able to cook one meal that everyone can eat instead of having to prepare something “special” for the person with intolerances.
We recognise that not everyone will have time to bake their own dishes, so our testing panel is munching its way through every shop-bought “free-from” product we can find. Some of these products are great and some are awful. Our opinions are posted on the discussion forum with marks out of 10. This should help people avoid the plastic pasta and cardboard cookies!
Problems with food allergies and intolerance have a huge impact on people’s ability to eat out. It also causes problems to cafés and restaurants catering for customers who can’t eat wheat, dairy products or nuts. There are so many lovely recipes available, but so often all we get offered is salad and fruit salad! If you are a caterer and would like help to make your menu more allergy-friendly, please contact Lorraine.
Bake something new this weekend!
