Experienced Professional Physiotherapist

About us:

Jill Wigmore-Welsh Msc HPC MCSP. GradDipPhys Consultant Physiotherapist
Additionally qualified as a Hypnotherapist Trainer and Master Practitioner in Neuro-Linguistic-Programming Feldenkrais Method Bodywork Certified Life Coach. Certified in the Bones for Life Programme. Reiki Master

People often book a consultation for a condition most people would not associate with Physiotherapy. Jill provides second opinions specialist advice and can refer for private MRI ultrasound scans or Xrays . Jill is a Health Professions Council Registered Physiotherapist and an AXA / BUPA recognised provider so direct fee settlement can be arranged. Jill has been in practice for over 30 years specialises in severe and chronic pain spine problems sports injuries joint issues muscle imbalance movement and posture

What is different about your practice?
I have successfully treated tens of thousands of people. The secret to getting people better lies in the quality of the first assessment and diagnosis. At my practice first appointments are always 60 minutes

What can you treat ?
Classic Physio treatment is for muscles skeleton pain & movement restrictions. There is a clear boundary between my Physio work and some of my other holistic training. For example sorting out acute pain through manipulation of joints and soft tissues and then teaching exercises is Physio. Monthly deep tissue massage isn’t physio, but a lot of people choose regular hands on maintenance to prevent relapse

What about work and posture issues?
I have worked in occupational health, trained stress management programmes, manual handling and carry out DSE and clinical ergonomic assessments. Its really important to be comfortable at work

Hypnotherapy Neuro Linguistic Programming and Life Coaching. How do these fit with Physiotherapy ?
Research shows that there is a strong link between stress, anxiety our emotional issues and physical symptoms like muscle tension and pain. When we are stressed we tense our muscles, and breath hold. I use NLP, hypnotherapy and coaching to enable folk to cope with everyday life a bit better. Perhaps helping them sleep, make decisions feel more relaxed and future focussed

Can everyone be helped ?
There are some cases where I wouldn’t use hypnosis, but generally its is surprising how much the way we think and feel does effect our health. I have worked with folk with infertility issues, training hypnosis for childbirth, using NLP to eradicate fears and phobias. Even conditions like IBS fibromyalgia, ME and illness people get through burn out

Are you qualified in all these methods?
Yes, I have developed my portfolio of qualifications over the past 15 years. Any method I use, I am qualified to practitioner level in, and often to a level where I train others

Deep Tissue Massage Myofascial Release Feldenkrais Method & Bones for Life . These are all hands on approaches?
Deep tissue massage, myofascial and one form of the Feldenkrais Method Functional Integration (FI) are hands on. Bones For Life & Awareness Through Movement (ATM) are classes

So what are they for?
Deep tissue massage and myofascial release effectively move muscles fascia, and organs. These soft tissue manipulations applied gently or strongly, free up the tissues clear adhesions improve muscle pliability

So is this what sports massage is ?
Sports massage is deep tissue work, great for high tone bulky muscles. But deep tissue work isn’t just for sports people its good for general aches and pains. I have client in his 80’s who finds it helps his arthritic pain

And the Feldenkrais Method?
Feldenkrais is very gentle awareness raising work. It helps folk change their patterns of movement. I was one of the first two Physios in the UK to train in the work, which helps people with early signs of wear and tear. Keeping joints healthy longer, ironing out the wrinkles. The classes are very unusual, easy non stressful. I have recorded many lessons for people to do at home, and have some free downloads on the internet. If people want to try one they can just email me
