Caversham Solicitors

Caversham Solicitors

Reading, Berkshire ~ Solicitors
Clients now benefit from our dedicated team of highly-skilled and client-focused solicitors

About us:

Caversham Solicitors Limited has for many years been serving the local community under the name of Lamberts. Our partnership became a limited company in 2003 and our Clients now benefit from our dedicated team of six highly-skilled and client-focused solicitors, each with their specialisation, supported by an exceptional team of secretaries and devoted support staff.

We have seen steady growth because our structure enables each of our solicitors to combine their specialised expertise with care and attention to the individual needs of Clients. This is why half of our new Clients come to us as a result of recommendation by existing Clients. We make the time, and we have the interest, to understand our Client’s requirements, enabling us to do our very best to achieve those.

Moving house is often described as one of the most traumatic events in life, ranking alongside bereavement and divorce. To a large extent the difficulties of the day are inevitable – you have to pack up everything you own, move it all out of the house at a given time and move it into a strange and unknown property (which may even be many miles away so that the very surroundings are alien).

Every adult should have a Will because: -

* It ensures that on your death whatever you own passes to those whom you would wish.
* Without a Will, the law dictates who will inherit from you.
* Within marriage, if a spouse leaves no Will, the surviving spouse will probably only receive a part of what the deceased intended.
* Outside of marriage, without a Will the partner may receive nothing.
* A Will enables you to choose who should administer your estate.
* A Will may be able to reduce Tax payable by many thousands of pounds.
* A Will can indicate who should look after your children if they are orphaned.
* A Will truly is the last opportunity to say ‘thank you’.

The law governing the relationship between employers and employees probably has seen a greater number of changes in recent years than any other area of English law. Much of this new law comes to us from Brussels; much of it is not easy to read; and there is no sign of any end to the increasing involvement of the state in the employment relationship.

We are able to advise employers as to their overall approach to the employment relationship, perhaps drafting contracts of employment; assist with plans for the future, perhaps including the taking over of another company; advise on issues that may have arisen – perhaps disciplinary or grievance issues, or redundancies or employment tribunals.

And for employees we can advise on their rights and what they should expect from their employer; how they can deal with grievance or disciplinary issues; and the prospects of success in employment tribunal or court.
