Christmas Bin Collections
Reading Residents are being encouraged to recycle as much of their Christmas waste as possible, putting cardboard, gift wrap and old cards in the red bins / boxes and not to put recyclables in carrier bags. People are also being reminded to put the right waste in their red bins / boxes – paper and card, cans, and plastic bottles only.
Reading Borough Council has nearly fifty bottle bank sites where people can recycle all their empty bottles. See the Council’s website for locations at www.reading.gov.uk/bins
Residents are being asked to make every effort to ensure that their household waste is contained in the grey bin.
Smallmead Household Waste and Recycling Centre will be open every day from 08:00 – 18:00, except Christmas Day. Please note that since 1st December 2009, the 1.95M height barrier is closed. Book ahead on 0800 9883023. www.re3.org.uk

The sites are at:

· Clayfield Copse (car park), Caversham Park Road
· Main car park in Prospect Park, Liebenrood Road
· Recycling area in Palmer Park, Wokingham Road
. Hills Meadow recycling area, The Car Park, George Street, Caversham
· Meadway Recreation Ground Car Park, Church End Lane
· Recycling area (car park) Rivermead Leisure Centre, Richfield Avenue

Alternatively people can recycle their Christmas trees using the green garden waste collection service. Trees must be chopped into pieces so they fit in the green waste bin or bag.
The green waste collection stops on December 18 and resumes on January 18. Trees can also be recycled as usual at the Household Waste Recycling Centre.
