Make a Fresh Reading Start this New Year at Job Fair and Pre-Start Business Exhibition

Fresh Start is a new free job, careers and business start up event taking place on Friday 15 January, from 9am to 3pm, at Hilton Reading, Drake Way, Kennet Island (off the A33), Reading.

The event – sponsored by Hilton Reading and The Reading Post – is an ideal opportunity for people who have recently been made redundant in the current economic downturn and are looking for a new job or to start up a new business with some advice and guidance along the way.

Entry is free, including free careers advice and guidance from a team of advisors from New Directions. Visitors are encouraged to bring along a copy of their CV on paper and in electronic format.

The Reading event includes a free Pre-Start Micro Business Exhibition organised by Business Link Enterprise Gateway Service for visitors to meet local business start-up providers, support agencies and find every useful contact needed to start up a business in one-day!

A free shuttle bus service funded by Reading UK CIC will be running return trips from 9am to 2.30pm from Reading Station direct to the hotel. Parking is also available in the hotels car park and the number 40/41 bus runs from central Reading to the hotel.

The event has been organised by New Directions, Reading Borough Council, Business Link Enterprise Gateway Service and Reading UK CIC.

Exhibitors include; New Directions, Reading UK CIC, Care UK, Jobcentre Plus, Radis Community Care, The Oracle, Hilton Hotels, Newbury College, Berkshire College of Agriculture, Reading Borough Council, Scout Enterprises (Western), Graft Thames Valley, Reading Post and Getthejob.co.uk.

Exhibitors in the Micro Business Exhibition include; Business Link Enterprise Gateway Service, Association of Disabled Professionals, Princes Trust, Company House, Enhams, Fredericks, The Federation of Small Businesses, HM Revenue & Customs, Prime, Social Enterprise Berkshire, Thames Valley Chamber and Trading Standards Reading Borough Council.

Jon Hartley, Lead Councillor for Reading Education and Lifelong Learning said; "The event is an ideal opportunity for residents across the borough to seek support and advice on jobs and to get information on starting up a new business."

New Directions will also be providing its quality careers advice and guidance service throughout the day.
